The apples may just be starting to wake up, but this Satsuma Plum is blooming like crazy. This plum tree was planted in 2023 and is really taking off. A handful of stone fruit trees were planted that year to see how they’d do next to the apple orchard. We can’t wait until it starts producing some of our organic plums!
The Satsuma plum is an heirloom that was introduced from Japan in the late 1800's. These plums, often called the "blood plum," have deep red flesh and an excellent tart flavor. They’re so good that you can eat them right off the tree and also wonderful for canning, baking, and cooking.
