New Bees

We just got our first bee hive delivered and set-up on the farm from Bee Positive. The bees will be a big help in pollinating the orchard’s many fruit trees while producing local honey!

Many flowering plants produce sweet nectar to attract honey bees and other pollinators.  As the bees gather nectar (sticky pollen) inside the flower, the nectar is moved accidentally by the fuzzy bodies of bees from one plant to the next – pollinating the plants as a result.  Honey is primarily made from plant nectar that’s stored in the bee hive. The bees are already excited to get out and start foraging for nectar now that spring is here. If you’re interested in bee services from Bee Positive, you can contact John or the San Juan Island Grange.
